Lomondgate Lays the Foundations for a Thriving New Community
May 10th 2013
Two of the first residents to move into the £135m Lomondgate development, along with their dog Mazey, have celebrated by having local Council Leader Martin Rooney round for a cup of tea.
Lomondgate is one of Scotland's most successful multi-use developments on the edge of Dumbarton, created in partnership with Strathleven Regeneration C.I.C. and Walker Group.
Since its launch only two years ago, more than half of the proposed 338 new homes have been constructed, significantly contributing to the West Dunbartonshire Council's ambitions to create 5,000 new homes over the next ten years, as well as significantly boosting the local economy.
Leading Scottish housebuilders, Walker Group, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey have already sold 104 homes at the development, despite challenging economic times, paying testament to the strength of the location and quality of properties being built.
To mark the progress Councillor Rooney visited David and Christine Mitchell for a cup of tea. The couple, along with their Shi Tzu dog, Mazey, moved in late last year after relocating from Cornwall to be closer to their family.
Mr Rooney, Leader of West Dunbartonshire Council, and a Board member of Strathleven Regeneration C.I.C., said: "It was great to go and visit David and Christine Mitchell and welcome them to West Dunbartonshire on behalf of the Council. This area has so much going for it and it is fantastic that we have a development such as Lomondgate on our doorstep that is building new and desirable homes to attract people to come and live here. We have ambitious targets for how many new homes we want to see built over the coming years and Lomondgate is a key player in helping us to achieve those goals."
The residential development is just one strand of the £135m Lomondgate project which has already attracted world class occupiers, Aggreko and BBC Scotland, and will feature a 20 acre Business Park as well as a wide range of roadside services, already featuring Premier Inn Hotel and Brewers Fayre Family Restaurant and Bar and Costa Coffee Drive-Thru, when complete.
Bruce Walker, Managing Director, Walker Group said, "There are very few developments in Scotland which have been as successful as Lomondgate in attracting new residents in such high numbers in such a short period of time. We are very proud that the location and quality of lifestyle on offer at Lomondgate has fuelled this interest which has a significant economic overspill for the wider community and West Dunbartonshire."
Current properties available at Lomondgate include a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes with prices starting from £139,000.
