Lomondgate Secures Euro Garages for Roadside Services
March 06th 2014
West Dunbartonshire Council has approved a detailed planning application enabling Euro Garages, the UK’s fastest growing forecourt operator, to purchase a site at the Lomondgate development.
The company has acquired a 1.1 acre site at Lomondgate Services on the A82. The £1.7million site investment will feature an Esso petrol station with a SPAR convenience store, a Subway, Greggs and Starbucks On The Go concessions. The scheme will create up to 50 new jobs.
Work will start on site in March and it is scheduled to open by June this year.
This will be Euro Garages’ first development of a retail forecourt operation in Scotland and forms a forward expansion strategy for the company north of the border. Euro Garages firmly believes in delivering global brands locally and Lomondgate will have positive impact on local economic regeneration and job creation.
Bruce Walker, Managing Director, Walker Group said, “Euro Garages is a very successful company with big ambitions and we are delighted that it recognised the merits of Lomondgate in its decision to purchase its first site here.
“The roadside services, in particular the petrol station, are key elements and form an integral part of the overall Lomondgate mixed use development which will provide essential convenience services to the wider community, local businesses and visitors.”
Privately owned, Euro Garages has a turnover of £439 million, employing over 1,800 staff and was voted Forecourt Trader Operator of the Year in 2013. “Lomondgate is an exciting addition to our national estate portfolio of nearly 180 sites and is our first venture north of the border. We aim to complete the development and provide further added value to the current provision being planned” expressed Ilyas Munshi, Commercial Director.
Bruce Malcolm, Chairman of Lomondgate partner, Strathleven Regeneration, added, “The fact that Euro Garages have chosen Lomondgate Services for their first petrol station development in Scotland highlights the strategic nature of the location. Our vision is of ‘destination services’ at this key gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. There will now be a complete offering of essential roadside facilities and services, with further visitor provision planned.”
Spanning a nine acre site, Lomondgate Services already includes a 60 bedroom Premier Inn hotel, the ‘Malt & Myre’ pub/restaurant, and Scotland’s first drive thru Costa Coffee. The Lomondgate partners and agents, Cushman & Wakefield, are offering three opportunities for visitor-oriented development.
Lomondgate is a £140 million mixed use development featuring 350 new homes and a 20 acre business park. It has already attracted world leading occupiers, the BBC and Aggreko.
