Lomondgate Welcomes New Plans

The Lomondgate Partnership, Strathleven Regeneration C.I.C. and Walker Group, has welcomed the submission of two new planning applications lodged with West Dunbartonshire Council for the £140m mixed-use development.
Family owned Glasgow based business, Jaconelli’s, has lodged a planning application to build a new family fish diner at a site adjacent to Costa Coffee. The restaurant will be able to accommodate 50 covers and will also provide a carry out service for passing visitors.
Lawrence Jaconelli, whose family started in the café trade some ninety years ago said, “I’ve been looking for a location to set up a new diner concept for the business and Lomondgate met all our requirements perfectly. As well as a substantial passing trade, there is a large local population to cater for and I believe we can offer a great addition to the already popular roadside services at Lomondgate.”
If planning is successful Jaconelli’s, hope to be onsite early next year and it is expected that the restaurant will create 20 new jobs.
Spanning a nine acre site, Lomondgate Services already includes a 60 bedroom Premier Inn hotel, the ‘Malt & Myre’ pub/restaurant, and Scotland’s first drive thru Costa Coffee.
Euro Garages Ltd, the UK’s fastest growing forecourt operator, has also secured planning permission and is finalising a building warrant, with work expected to start on site mid-November. It will feature an Esso petrol station with a Spar convenience store, a Subway food to go outlet, a Greggs take-away and Starbucks On The Go.The Lomondgate partners and agents, Cushman & Wakefield, are offering three further opportunities for visitor-oriented development.
Elsewhere at Lomondgate, UK housebuilder, Taylor Wimpey has lodged a Pre-Application Notice application, which requires a twelve week consultation period prior to submission of a full planning application, for the creation of 54 new family homes. The housebuilder hopes to purchase a site next to its existing location.The twelve acre site, which accommodated 110 new homes was a flagship success for the company.If planning is successful it is anticipated that the builder could start on site next year.

On completion, Lomondgate will feature 400 new homes, created by Walker Group, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey.
