November 26th 2013
The multi-million pound Lomondgate development, near Dumbarton, received a commendation award in the new public and private partnership category at the Scottish Government's 2013 Quality in Planning Awards.
Judges praised West Dunbartonshire Council, Walker Group (Scotland) and Strathleven Regeneration CIC, saying: "Lomondgate has been revitalised through a strong, successful partnership for over 10 years. Right from the beginning, the vision was to always view the development as a long-term investment. As a result, the physical changes that have taken place are testament to a public and private partnership making things happen."
The site boasts 237 new homes, a 60 room Premier Inn, a Brewers Fayre pub restaurant (the Malt & Myre) and a drive-through Costa coffee outlet. Aggreko is the first major employer to be attracted to Business Park with its new manufacturing facility and offices accommodating around 400 employees while the company fulfilled its order for the London Olympic Games. Since 2002 it has also been home to BBC Scotland's River City set and drama production studios.
Councillor Martin Rooney, Council Leader and Board member of Strathleven Regeneration Company, said: "Lomondgate is a fantastic example of how a Council can work with private companies and partners to drive economic regeneration. We can all see the amazing transformation of this site every day and I'm delighted that it is also a high quality regeneration involving major national and international companies."

I think this is a special development and one of Scotland's most exciting and successful sites."
Mike Edward, Development Director, Walker Group said, "The foundation of a solid, working relationship with the Council has enabled the Partnership to position Lomondgate as an attractive environment for growth and investment and we are proud of the level of development secured in a relatively short period of time and against a backdrop of tough economic conditions. There are few Scottish developments that have enjoyed such success."

drive forward new ideas and to keep the planning system delivering to the best of its capacity. I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and commitment."
